A good dentist should keep up with the evolving world of dental technology. New technology and treatments in the dental field can bring you, the patient, better options for your oral health. In Austin, Dentist Helen Ragsdale and the team provide comprehensive dental care that includes laser dentistry for precision treatments and ultimate patient comfort.

1. We use dental lasers for a variety of dental procedures.

With soft and hard tissue lasers, we perform many different dental treatments, including:

  • Root Canal Therapy
  • Periodontal (Gum) Disease
  • Periodontal Surgery
  • Tooth Removal
  • Tooth Prep for Fillings and Crowns
  • Cosmetic Dental Enhancements
  • Early Diagnosis of Cavities
  • Teeth Whitening
  • Early Diagnosis of Oral Cancer

2. Laser technology helps us perform noninvasive treatments.

Our favorite benefits of laser technology are enhanced patient satisfaction and comfort. We want to make every visit comfortable for you and your loved ones. Dental lasers allow us to provide minimally invasive treatments and quick recovery times

With our Waterlase system, we replace the traditional dental drill with atomized water technology. Waterlase combines a laser with water to create energized droplets that smoothly cut through soft gum tissue, as well as hard tissues, like teeth and bone. WIthout the vibration, heat, and sound of a drill, you will experience a more comfortable and less invasive procedure.

3. Laser technology detects tooth decay early.

The DIAGNOdent dental laser brings accurate early detection to the fight against tooth decay. This laser allows us to find and treat tooth decay, without needing x-rays or the uncomfortable scrape tests.

First, DIAGNOdent finds the baseline bounceback wavelength of a healthy tooth. Then, when scanning your teeth, the system alerts us to any tooth that does not share the baseline wavelength. In these particular teeth, either tooth decay or weakening of the tooth structure has begun.

Before decay develops, enamel softens due to demineralization. DIAGNOdent provides early detection by pinpointing these weak areas. Demineralization requires minimal restorative treatment, allowing you to retain the optimal amount of natural, healthy tooth structure.

4. Lasers offer better precision and less trauma.

Dental lasers improve precision in oral surgeries and other treatments. Lasers are faster and less invasive than their traditional counterparts: drills, scalpels, and sutures. With laser dentistry, patients can expect little to no bleeding, minimal tissue trauma, and a speedier recovery.

5. Laser technology treatments save you time and money.

When great oral health is achieved, you’re less likely to experience a dental emergency. Outside of your semi-annual checkups and cleanings, we may not see you much. While we at Austin Laser Dentist love to see your smile, even more, we love to know you’re enjoying great oral health!
